How much to pay Chinese workers?

I'm interested in starting a small business in China, and I'm just in the VERY early stages of planning. I'd like to know the average monthly wage of a Chinese worker in various industries. For example, what is the average pay of someone who might work at a bank as a teller, or a receptionist? How about a worker at Starbucks, or an entry level engineer? I'm probing around for ballpark estimates to get a feel of the salaries in China. Ballpark is fine, so long as it avoids order of magnitude errors. Knowing that wage is highly dependent on location, please compare to two cities: Guangzhou and Shanghai, or any city if you don't know much about those two in particular. I'd like to pay on the higher end if I can afford it.
