Ominous sign of things to come?

"Ominous sign(s) of things to come?" Where have you been, under a rock? My friend you like most Americans have a very selective memory when it come to government repression of [insert type of thought here]. It is an interesting point to ponder just how many times the government has willfully and deliberately violated the First Amendment rights of the people with the acquiescence if not active encouragement of so called ‘tolerant’ Christianity. I can think of three instances right off the top of my head: the historic persecution of the Mormons, the persecution of Native American religion(s) culminating in the slaughter at Wounded Knee, and the slaughter at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco Texas. This is just one more example of the government directly interfering in the personal affairs within the homes of its people.
