What are the psychological benefits or negative side of having children steeped in certain beliefs like Santa?

What are the psychological benefits of having children steeped in certain traditions, religious beliefs systems, (aka mythology) and concepts such as the Easter Bunny & Santa Claus? What might be the negative side to children believing in any of this if you think there is a negative side?
