Could any born-again evangelicals please point out where in Scripture (see details) ...?

These "interpretations", as you put it, are not actually in the Bible. They are inferred, rather by the scriptures such as the one where Jesus says, "Come unto me, and I will give you rest". Having a personal relationship with Christ is a spiritual rather than an actual oociation, and it is meant to symbolize one embracing the teachings of Him and following in what he preached and believed in. These all come into play with not only the Evangelicals say, but also every other major part of the Christian faith, from the apostles forward.
