Can someone answer this ques about the movie "Awakenings" ?

Ya know, I asked myself that same question. Unfortunately, I know about as much about biology and bio-chemistry as I do about women! But the answer must lie there somewhere. I wonder if genetic research has, or can contribute to the solution. Hopefully, a neurologist (or professional in a related field) will respond, and we can at least get some kind of explanation.... ;-) ...EDIT: Here's a thought. If you get or have the DVD, I would bet there are interviews with professionals to answer that question, and I believe there must be a doentary on the subject. I'll check it out, and if I find it will post it here...RE-EDIT: Ok, found a couple links I hope help...There is a Discovery Channel program on the subject, but I can't find it @ their site...Maybe you'll have better luck...
