Hamster Question. Input?

Okay so iv'e had hamsters for about 7yrs now. & i only had this problem once. To resolve it i got a different hamster cage, haha. So instead of havin a regular wheel in my hamster cage i have the ball, that turns into a wheel too. My hamster uses it as a bathroom, & let me tell ya..Ewww. =P I wanna put a stop to it, so im thinkin to take the wheel out? but than whats it gonna do for exercise. I dont want it to get bored to death! Sooo, ahh what to do? Another thing.. im thinkin of makin a litter box for it. But instead of that hamster litter, what can i use? i live in the middle of no where, so there aint no pet stores around. haha. Thank yall for any advice! =]
